Day 31 - Rotary Phone

You know what amuses me about this phone besides the silly eyes and the fact that the string to pull it is significantly longer than the string that connects the receiver to the base resulting in a very awkward phone call? The fact that it's a ROTARY phone! They still have kid toys that mirror products you will no longer find at your local Target or Walmart. Boy does it take me back to childhood and I am not THAT old. :)

What?!? These weren't always just toys? Just kidding. I remember rotary phones from my childhood too! Cute shot.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. The silly eyes are great. I like the angle you chose to take this picture from. Well done.

OMG--they still make that? When we were kids, we had a version that was made of wood by Fischer-Price. At least it still meant "phone" to us. I daresay todlers now would have no clue. (We kept a rotary phone WAY after they're become obsolete. When my son was in high school--early 2000s--and cell phones were not yet ubiquitous--his friends whould ask to use the phone, and I'd point them to the rotary phone. They just look at it, helpless. They had NO idea how to actually dial a phone.

You have a great way of making something so simple and ordinary look really fun and interesting. I love the angle, crop and processing on this shot and think the end result is fabulous! Great job.

good times I think all little kids need a phone on wheels instead of their phone IN wheels

And the other thing is, even though they are nothing like what is really in the stores, we buy them because of the nostalgia. And it's cute too!

Ha, yeah my grandparents had a rotary phone too but I never really thought abt the fact that they still sell these as toys! ha. I'm surprised kids aren't like, what's this for???

It's an interesting observation about the disconnect between toys and real life items. But, I still love this Fisher Price classic!

This is such an appealing picture. Wonderful camera work. Yesterday, my 4 year old granddaughter picked up a cassette tape and asked me what it was. I have gotten used to records being strange to children, but cassette tapes?

Childhood was the first thing I thought of too :-)
