Otherwise known as the "praying mantis" :) I couldn't pic a favorite out of the three so I will let you decide which you like best. I didn't bring my camera with me to the lake because more times than not it becomes more of a burden when I am trying to play with my little girl. Of course when I bring my camera I don't find any really great photo ops but of course the day I don't bring it there were a couple great photo ops. Thankfully as we were walking up the stairs to our apartment I spotted this guy and with some help from the hubs moving him to a more attractive background than the light post, I successfully got my picture for today. Love it when that happens..when you don't look for a photo op and it just finds you.

What a great collage! I always forget that a mantis can be brown, I'm used to seeing bright green ones. What a cool find!
Great collage! ...but I can't look too closely..ha. I was out in my back yard a few days ago with my fingers in the grass. I picked up what I thought to be a loose blade of grass (need glasses I guess) and it turned out to be a praying mantis. I promise you it bit me. :) Anyway, I went in for *one* second to get my camera and couldn't find it when I got back out.
Wondering if they change colors w/ their surroundings?
I like the three together. Also like the idea of a spiritual bug.
I can see why you had trouble choosing a favorite. I think I'm partial to the pose in the first shot. I didn't know they came in brown :) I have only seen green ones.
Love the name Spiritual Bug, great captures, love the selective focus on the eyes on the bottom one!
I love the title and the collage! My favorite is the one where he is looking at the camera.
LOL at spiritual bug. I love the collage. And it's always funny how if I don't have a shot yet, if I just walk around for a few minutes I almost always find something :)
I always thought that Praying Mantis were green. I love your collage.
Gorgeous collage.
My fave is the top left one! He's definitely trying to size you up, wishing HE had a camera. lol Great job!
Cool! I've never seen a purple praying mantis before!
I like the macro's of the Mantis. They used to be my favorite bug.....I would pick them up and move them to my rose bushes. One of my dogs was about to get one a couple of years ago and I quickly picked it up to rescue it. I do not know if it bit me or pinched me, but it hurt, and I had two little blood spots where it broke the skin. Now, I warn everyone not to pick the darn things up! Next time my dog starts after one, it better start praying! LOL!
I can’t pick a favorite either. They are all beautiful, and they make for a great mosaic. This summer I have not seen a single one and that is so unusual....but then I have had very few butterflies here. I wonder what is happening out there with our dear Mother Nature. So glad you were able to find some. The are fine specimens and your captures are super. genie
These are wonderful images Misty, and I love the way you've presented them here!
Thank you so much for sharing this today at The Creative Exchange.

happy week =)
Don't need to pick a favorite - I like them all grouped together like this. Nice presentation!
