Day 21 - Peanuts

I almost always spend Friday afternoon and evening with my mom and my little girl. Mom decided she wanted us to eat out at Roadhouse Grill. It's a cool little western themed restaurant where you are handed a bucket of peanuts and are free to throw the shells on the floor. I, of course had to give it a try but I felt weird throwing peanut shells on the floor. The food left a lot to be desired too. Ah well. We had a good time together anyway.

I lost my mother this past December and my father this past November, so I started a 365 to honor and memorialize them for my kids in some way, so when I read the first line of your post today I thought about how lucky your are to be able to spend time with your Mom. Don't give up that tradition for anything and enjoy every moment you have with her. I look forward to following your blog.

Sounds like a fun girls day out; having someone else clean up after you is always a good thing! I like the way you shot the peanuts with the off centered crop and showing a lot of the interesting bowl.

When I eat at those places I just can't make myself throw those shells on the floor lol Wonderful close up and I really like the processing!

We have a restaurant like that here too. And I have the same problem ... just can't throw the shells on the floor. Wouldn't do it at home, won't do it there. :)

Anyway, that is so nice that you spend your Fridays with your mom and daughter. I wish my mom lived closer so we could spend more time together.

Love the peanuts and the tradition of girls night out, but couldn't throw them on the floor either.

I love peanuts! Reminds me of my dad and uncle. They always had the big canvas sacks of them at home.

Ahhh, that's a great girls night out tradition! I'm with you on the whole peanut shells on the floor thing.

Sounds like great 'together' time no matter the place...It is tough to 'litter' indoors (with permission even) or out!

Although the food wasn't great at least you got a cool pic out of the deal, not to mention quality time with your mom and daughter. I like the textures in this shot.

Kristin - I commented back on your blog. My heart goes out to you. I am so thankful for my mom. Don't know what I would do without her.

Jen - Thanks so much for following!

Sandra - My mom is just downright awesome. Anyone who has ever met her just loves her. She has so much personality.

Kimberly - I am so blessed to live in the same city as my mom. I definitely don't take it for granted. Don't know what I would do if I couldn't see her all the time. Love that she is a part of my daughter's life too.

The sepia tones and the old-style bucket make this look like an antique photo.

Thank you for your sweet post It still doesn't seem real to me, and I miss them every second of every day. Sometimes blogging helps, and other times it reminds me of them, but I know they would both want me to pursue my passions rather than be sad and mope around all day. I wish I'd started this project earlier to get more photos of my Mom with my kids. I have lots of them with my Dad, but my Mom hated having her picture taken, so make sure you get lots of them with Grandma every chance you get.

Yum! The oil in the peanuts is supposedly good for the floors ;) Nice composition.

Peanuts are my favorite snack and I wish I had a place where I could throw the shells on the floor. I tried that here and it didn't go over to well with my wife!

The sepia tone really was a nice choice to apply to this image.
