Day 78 - Rusted History

I would love to know where this piece of equipment was once used, whose ground it once tilled, the story behind it, its history. Now it's all rusted and worn and out of commission used as decoration in front of a construction business. I posted another piece of the equipment in an earlier post here.

Correction: I was informed that this is actually a hay rake. Thanks, Andy, for the info. I searched for it on the web but no one seemed to no what it was called.

I wonder about things like this too.... I used to think it was a better time to live, but I'm not so sure now. Their trial were different, but it was a hard life. It's a great photo.

Very well done...you've honored this piece of equipment by photographing it...preserving the moment in time.

Great picture Misty! My grandfather had one of these when I was a child. We kids climbed around and played on it for hours. It isn't a tiller, it is a hay rake. When the hay was cut and dried this would be used to rake it into rows, then a baler would be used to make the hay into bales. Thanks for the post, it brought back a lot of memories. I often wondered what happened to grandpa's hay rake. :)

A beautiful way to capture history. It's beautiful but doesn't look too comfortable.
